Testing attitude–behaviour theories using non-experimental data: An examination of some hidden assumptions

چکیده

This chapter presents a detailed causal analysis of the two leading theories of attitude–behaviour relations, the theory of reasoned action (TRA) and the theory of planned behaviour (TPB). It is noted that the direct path from perceived behavioural control to behaviour in the TPB is causally ambiguous. Focusing on the attitude–intention relationship, timeline and path diagrams are used to illustrate some of the hidden assumptions that underlie the way these theories are usually tested using standard multiple regression applied to nonexperimental data. Randomised experiments are recommended as the best solution to the serious problems arising from omitted causes.

Modeling heat transfer of non-Newtonian nanofluids using hybrid ANN-Metaheuristic optimization algorithm

An optimal artificial neural network (ANN) has been developed to predict the Nusselt number of non-Newtonian nanofluids. The resulting ANN is a multi-layer perceptron with two hidden layers consisting of six and nine neurons, respectively. The tangent sigmoid transfer function is the best for both hidden layers and the linear transfer function is the best transfer function for the output layer....

The Effect of a Training Program Based on the Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) on Sexual High-Risk Behavioural Intentions in Female Prisonors, Vakil Abad Prison, Mashhad, Iran, 2013

Background and Aims: High-risk sexual behaviors are of the most important risky behaviours in the area of sexual and reproductive health. It seems that educational programs based on health behavioural change theories are of the most basic measures in prevention of social damages. Therefore, the present study was carried out to determine the effect of a training...

Examining Attitudes toward Information Security Behaviour using Mixed Methods

This paper reports on a mixed-method research project that examined the attitudes of computer users toward accidental/naive information security (InfoSec) behaviour. The aim of this research was to investigate the extent to which attitude data elicited from repertory grid technique (RGT) interviewees support their responses collected via an online survey questionnaire. Twenty five university st...
